Rust on my SS headers????
The finish is flaking off like paint, is this by any means normal for SS headers??? Or just cheap steel. SLP headers are known to get spotty rust here and there. they won't rust through. besides, it's not like anyone can see the collectors.
that being said, SLP doesn't use crappy stainless steel. they use the same stuff as everyone else. they're a quality header, they just don't fit too well.

SLP headers are made of T409 Stainless, which is the cheapest grade of stainless. Its known to develop surface rust, despite the fact that it is in fact stainless steel. I've seen some SLP LT's rusted up pretty bad. For the price, that is sad. They could have at least made them out of T304, which is much better.
The SS Autochrome headers that a sponsor is now selling here are made of 321 stainless. Its the highest quality stainless available, I believe its aircraft grade steel. I have a set of them and painted them with high temp black, so they should be good indefinitely
