Default Shift light hook up help

It is a Proform 67005c. It has red/black/green wires. Red is suppost to go to a 12V ignition switch. Where do I hook up the red wire too, like where on the car. Black goes to a good ground. And Green goes to either negative coil on ignition or to the tach terminal, which I assume is on the PCM. Can someone help me with the red and green wires? Its on a 96 btw. Thanks.

I know there was an LS1 write-up at www.installuniversity.com (Harlan Shift Light Install). IDK if it will be any help for an LT1 car though...

When I installed my light, I used the switched 12v wire used for the traction control button. My car didn't come with traction control....but it was still wired for it. The rest of the install was virtually identical to the write-up mentioned above.

Red wire to radio power. Green wire to pin 32 (rpm output), red connector, on PCM.

Basically I can cut the white wire open and then solder it back together with the green wire on it?

Yup. You can even just shave the plastic off a part of the white wire, and then just solder the green wire into it. Whichever way is easier for you.

I believe it's either 20 or 22 guage. You can get away with 18 guage....at least, that's what I used.

I hooked everything up good. I plugged the red wire into the ignition slot in the side fuse box. I grounded the black wire on a screw under the dash and I connected the green wire to the white wire on the pcm, no shift light!

Please post pics once you mount it. It looks like a very nice piece for $50. Where are you planning on mounting it?

I mounted it right behind the steering wheel. I used some real long zip ties to mount it. And used some electric tape around it, cant even tell its taped. Very sturdy.

Can someone please help me troubleshoot my problem?

Maybe the power wire needs to be connected to a continuous power source...I don't know.

Also, double check your ground wire. Much of the dash is plastic and might not work as a ground.
