K&N I'll never run anything but a K&N filter. people can argue all day lnog about what flows best or filters best but I jsut like the "I never have to buy another one" factor

I used to run a Holleyshot filter (just like K&N, but it actually sealed unlike the K&N), and changed to using paper filters. Too much hassle with the "rechargeable" filters for me. I just use a quality paper filter (Wix) and call it a day.

I went from a K&N back to Frams a long time ago. K&N's let too much crap pass by.

I thought about the Amsoil but couldn't see $50 for an air filter. Wix.

Amsoil should still be the last filter you have to buy... You clean it using compressed air. Sure people can argue about flow and filter capabilities...but there is research data out there to usually quiet those arguments. I didnt like the K&N because I didnt like having to worry about cleaning it and oiling it just right. I just bought a new Z06 maf to replace my SLP piece of junk, and the last thing I want is any sort of oil on it. Thats what I see more people arguing about...is the oil issue. So I figured just avoid it all together.

WIXX paper air filter with a lid..

i did back to back to back testing on a DynaPack 4000 system a year ago..

using a granitelli lid.. i tested the Wixx paper filter... K&N filter.. and NO filter

going from Wixx to K&N.. dyno saw 1rwhp.. going from K&N to NO filter, saw 2rwhp..

Im sticking with the paper element... $11.. VS $49...

STP, FRAM, (insert paper filter here)... I can't see spending 50 bucks on a K&N.

I had a K&N, for about 50k miles I believe. I live in Florida in a pretty clean town...not much in the way of dirt roads or any of that at all. So I never had to clean the filter, it barely had any dirt on it. When we took it to the dyno where the throttle body was ported, the MAF was full of oil gunk.... The filter was never oiled by me, just the factory oiling. So after that, I got rid of the K&N and got a Purolater paper filter. Yesterday I decided to get an Amsoil one...got it today but haven't put it in yet. As little as I drive, and as little dirt the air seems to have around me, I am sure that's the last filter I'll have to buy for a while. Maybe I'll even gain a hp on the dyno when the car goes again for a dyno day.

It seems so....so....unmodified with the stock paper filter!

Def. the paper filter = cheap and guarantees no oil or junk going into your engine such as from a K&N.

Had a K&N but it made the car run like **** for the first 5-10 minutes. Put in a paper and it runs great. Too bad I have a clear lid

I've got the SLP Ram air kit and a K&N filter. After a few times on the interstate the K&N is toast. That Ram air kit really destroys the filter, and I've gotten tired of oiling the crap out of that filter, so I think its gonna be a paper filter for me from now on. After one road trip I could change the filter, and heck, the recharge kit is the same price as a new paper filter. I know among the rice crowd that the K&N and other HP gaining filters is king... But I've got a cam, full exhaust, Intake manifold... I think the performance that a K&N is going to offer me is pretty tiny.
