Hell yea! I recommend getting it farther down the I-Pipe close to the rear passenger wheel. It's easier to cap and uncap without lifting up the car or anything. I didn't buy the electronic part, just the cut-out itself and I leave it open all the time.

Absolutely, cut outs provide a noticeable throttle response and sound means too. Plus best of all it's less than $100 (for a regular one)

11 hp and 8 ft lbs of torque gained at the wheels on my stock SS. From what I have read the stock SS exhaust flow just about the same as flowmaster catback so I'm sure you'll pickup some pony's.

not meanin to hijack his thread, but i have the same situation. will there be a noticable difference between a cutout and flowmasters or a true dual setup?? i already know that the td setup is better, but by how much??

My mods are in my sig.

I just had the car on the dyno last Friday, and I gained almost 10 rwhp between the cutout being open and closed, and that's with a pretty free flowing (and rather expensive) B&B Triflo exhaust.

With headers and catted Y pipe and a cam, I find the noise of the open cutout unbearable, so I cap it but put a nut between the cutout and the cap as a spacer, so it still sounds mean at idle and at WOT without being super loud.

that is wrong--I have seen the inside of stockers vs Flowmasters....they are much better, and all the flow charts only put the 80 series about 1/2-3/4 of the way down...in CFM's..only 100 or so.

Thats why I love my electric... I dont like it fully open all the time either. So I just give the switch a couple taps and crack it open. Sounds great, less rasp. It adds just alittle something to the already great sounding magnaflow.

Im kinda anxious to see how much different the cut out makes on my car. LTs, ORY, magnaflow vs. LTs, ORY, cut out open.

yes it will, but you will loose a lil low end torque, and you will be able to tell whenever you put the cut out back on.
I have seen a 408 dyno 40rwhp with the cutouts removed and nothing else changed.
