I don't know why they are calling that one a "Blackwing" lid.
It's nothing like the "real" one that came as an option. And
it's got nothing in particular to do with Donaldson filters that
I can see.

The new ones have been shipping for about 5+ months now. There is not a special "blackwing" lid, they are all blackwings now, and all cost the same as the old lid. The new lid is a one peice design that fits better and does not rub the hood of some cars. There is no real performance gains or anything. We have the new ones in stock, and on sale on our site if anyone is interested.

Every car is different. I have the old lid but do not have any issues. The situation is like the FTRA that I bought and installed. All the mounting locations lined up but the top of the FTRA didn't match up with the filter base so I had to do a little modding to the mounting locations.

A WS6 lower airbox is alot taller, so that will rub on the hood easier.
