Default Somethings not right after header install

When I get on it at any speed or from a stop it feels as if it's being held back. Like she wants to go but it's almost as if there is a rubberband pulling in the other direction.

I put new wires on during the install and the plugs were changed last year so I didn't worry about doing those. I removed the passenger coil packs but I believe everything is hooked up properly. What gives? Any ideas?

Have you checked the plugs? Make sure your plugs don't have any crack. It happened to me also when I installed my headers. Mine popped and hesitations, then I found out later that I had 3 crack plugs.

How would the plugs get cracked? Man, I don't want to pull the plugs if I don't have to.

Would it throw any codes? My ses light is always on because I did the !air and haven't tuned it out yet. I also just put the rear o2 sensors back in instead of using sims. I'll get them tuned out also later. But will it throw a code for cracked plugs?

If a plug or plugs were screwed then wouldn't it idle differently? It idles fine. It's just when I get on the gas hard that it feels as if it's being held back.

My buddy had this same prob and it was from a cracked plug. You may have cracked them when you installed the headers.

Does the car cut out in the higher rpms??

No, there is no miss that I can tell. It's just that it doesn't pull as hard as I'm used to it pulling. Maybe it's all in my head but I swear, it's almost as if I'm pulling something behind me.

I cracked a plug when I put my headers on and when I went to replace the gasket.. I knew about the first one but the second one was a pain. There was a very nice crack in the plug. I'd check them. I can pull the plugs and get them back in the motor in about 45 minutes now if that, haha.

Well you guys were right on the button. I gathered up the courage and pulled all the plugs. Sure enough the number 3 plug had a nice crack in it. I changed out the plugs and now she has the get up and go that I'm used to. I don't notice much down low but at highway speeds she just keeps pulling and pulling and pulling. Put a big ol smile on my face.

I do have to say that having headers sure makes changing the plugs a piece of cake. I removed the passenger coil pack bracket and got them all from the top side. Had them all out and changed in 30 minutes.

Thanks again guys. I've been in the dumps all day trying to figure out what was going on.

so then the consesus is if you're changing plugs/wires when doing lt's it's best to wait until AFTER the headers are installed?

Take them out when doing the headers and put new ones in after you are done.

Absolutely...you'll see a thread every few days about someone's car not acting right after a header install. 90% of the time they cracked a plug while installing their headers.

I was in the same boat as you when I was installing my headers. My plugs were barely a year old and I couldn't accept my plugs were crack after my install but I had to find out the hard way. Anyways, good to hear your car is back on the road.
