Default LS6 Intake - Steam Pipe

Anyone Using a LS6 intake with the stock LS1 steam pipes make make a template of where you have to grind down the bottom of the Intake for the pipe?

I'm using the LS6 front steam pipe in both the front and rear and connecting them with a hose that will run along the passenger side valve cover under the PCV hoses.

Yeah.. I know that can be done and has been done a lot. Keeping the LS1 pipe is just a cleaner look, so I'm just trying to keep it that way.

I am about to swap the LS6 intake in, I might just have to make the template for all, but was wondering if it has already been done.

thanks for the reply.

I considered using the LS1 steam pipe set up with my LS6 intake but the more I fiddled with it the less I liked the idea. Part of the problem was the knock sensor wires were getting crushed and I didn't want to compromise the integrity of the intake. Some guys have been successful with this approach from what I've read.

What I did was put a little grease on the pipe, then I set the intake on top. It showed me exactly where I had to grind meterial off.

I know its kind of hard to see, but look at where I am grinding and then look at the full photo and you will see the line for the pipe. I also grinded a little bur where the knock sensor wire is so I didn't crush it.

What are the benefits of running the front-to-back steam lines as opposed to just the front steam lines?

I am pretty sure, but I am not positive that the LS6 pipes are a little larger in diameter. They do not run from the front to the back.
The LS1 pipes run from the front to the back and cross from side to side.

IMO, their is no advantage. The reason they did not have the crossover on the LS6 is because there was not enough room. If you grind the bottom of the intake, it gives you enough room and it will not effect the strength of the intake.

I ground mine down w no problems. Just turn it upside down and eyeball the path of the pipe, should be down the driver side near the valvecover. Dosen't hurt a thing IMO. I've heard it keeps no.7 from roasting by leaving it on.
