Everyone that I've heard from has said that their Y-pipes are really crappy. From what I've seen Maryland Speed (a sponsor ---->) has the best prices on Jet-Hots.

I saw the kit on www.lmperformance.com (a sponsor!) Between that website and TSP, that's where I get all my parts from!

Why pay $500ish for Jet Hots when Pacesetters are only $375? They're both mild steel, ceramic coated headers.

Thumbs up

I just installed my JetHots and matching JetHot off road Y pipe today. I bought my entire setup used for a mere $200 and I cannot be more pleased with how well they both fit my car. I'm not a small guy and I can easily get my fat fingers between the exhaust and anywhere it was thought to be close, or supposedly might have needed clearancing. The Y pipe fit great and was a breeze to install IMHO. Not even close to rubbing anything and plenty of ground clearance as well.

I had to remove spark plugs for the headers to fit up into place, and that was it. No cutting anything off the side of the block, no oil filter removal, no steering linkage removal, no nothing...Piece of cake. I did remove the passenger side coil packs to get a little more room to bolt them on though. Spent about 3.5 hours in the driveway, by myself, and I thought they fit alot easier than I had read and heard they would. I'll have to spend an hour or so tomorrow to finish up the AIR removal and throwing some new O2 sensors in. Darn parts store didn't have Bosch 13111's so they gave me a cross referenced number, which didn't have long enough pigtails on them. I'll have to lengthen them tomorrow at work.

Overall...very pleased with the fitment of both the headers and the Y pipe. Cannot wait to fire it up and hear what it sounds like through my used $200 Borla catback...

Thats the setup I'm installing, do the TSP duals fit alright on the Jet-Hots?

It will sound great, I can tell you that for sure. Even better with a cam. I think the Jethots are worth the extra $125 over Pacesetters. I don't care what you say, you get what you pay for. Mine slid right in as well, didn't notch anything, just needed the driver side eng mount to be a poly one. $200, what a deal.

Pacesetter DO NOT coat the inside of thier headers. Just the outside.
Thats why Pacesetter's will start to rust around the collectors.

Jet Hot coat the inside and outside of the header, and with thier much better "Sterling' coating.
Jet Hot coated headers will run cooler and stay in better shape longer.

I put a set of Jet Hot L/T on my 2002 SS when it was new and at a 115,000 I still love um. They work!

i don't know about Pacesetters, but Jet Hot headers compared to Hooker headers (same basic design): Jet Hots have a thicker flange, and also use a thicker steel for their piping (i think its 18 gauge compared to 16). also if memory serves me correctly Jet Hots have better welds around the flange.

when i ordered my Jet Hot headers several years ago from them they had told me that the exact things that they had upgraded from the Hooker design, but it was so long ago i'm having a hard time remembering the specifics.

mine have some surface rust from where i have driven them in the rain, but the coating doesn't seem to be flaking off... hopefully it won't.

I've got jet hots on my 99 SS and they were easy to install. As previously stated by another member, I had to knotch my drivers side k-member. I am well satisfied with the performance, and fit of the headers, but not the coating. I was expecting a very durable long lasting coating, since they are "jet-hot's" own headers and are coated inside and out. My car is never driven in inclimate weather, and I have had the headers on the car since the fall of 04 and have put about 10,000 miles on them. They have really rusted on the bottom of the collectors, especially where the primaries meet the collector. Right where the exhaust comes out of the head, about 3-4 inches down on each header primary the coating has bubbled up and discolored. The headers come with a lifetime coating, but its too much trouble to pull the headers back off the car and send them back to jet hot, not to count the downtime. Now I wish I had gone with stainless, but only QTPs were available then and they were in the $1300 range compared to the $550 jet hots.
