Got Headers Loudmouth TOO loud !!! HELP!! What's up guys, I just got Hooker Headers with no Cats installed on my 02 Z. The loudmouth is way to loud now..I keep getting warnings from the local cops to quiet it down some...I heard about some people replacing the resonator on the loudmouth for a borla muffler, I just don't know witch model it is. Or if you guys have any opinions as to witch muffler to have put on there instead. I heard that the borla muffler sounds really good on my set-up. (headers, comp cam, loudmouth, torque converter, no cats, bolt-ons, & tuning)

Re: Got Headers Loudmouth TOO loud !!! HELP!! There is nothing you can put in place of the Loudmouth resonator that will make that much of a difference. Whether you use the Borla XR1 bullet or the Dynomax bullet, they don't actually quiet down the exhaust, they eliminate a little bit of rasp and tighten up the exhaust sound a bit.
Get a Custom Y pipe with cats and that will decrease the volume to a much more tolerable volume. I have Hooker LTs, a custom Y with cats, and a Loudmouth, see the pix in my sig for my setup.

Best decision I ever made. My car sounds like a sports car again instead of a dump truck. It is now about the same volume as a stock car with an aftermarket cat back.
Lost about 2 HP going from the LM to the dual/dual, and picked up 5 rwtq in the process.
My recommendation would be to trade the LM for another cat back - one with a muffler!

I recently gutted the cats and now it is way to loud, sounds great at idle though For those of you that changed from the LM to a different cat back,if your Fbod is not your daily driver do you think that a muffler swap in place of the resonator would be sufficient or in most opinions is it still to loud? My SS is only a weekend ride so I don't mind it being fairly loud.

Re: Got Headers Loudmouth TOO loud !!! HELP!! Have the LM and 3" y-pipe with stock manifolds and cats. I think it is too loud even at idle, but I don't think it sounds like a dump truck. Maybe that is what happens with headers....don't know? Having a dynomax bullit swapped in for my resonator today. Will post an opinion after that.
Re: Got Headers Loudmouth TOO loud !!! HELP!! The bullit did help some. It did take away the rasp and most of the drone. When I start the engine, and at idle, it sounds much better. Still loud at WOT though.
