Default band clamps and O's questions with XS headers and Y

what band clamps do i need for my XS stainless headers and Y pipe, the "lap joint" band clamp where one side is a slightly larger diameter or the "but joint" band clamp where the diametere of the band clamp is uniform on both sides? common sence says the lap joint, becouse the header slides into the y pipe, but the big end of the band clamp looks alittle to big to clamp onto anything. also, both the headers and y pipe have 2 o2 sensor bungs each, so should i run all 4, or plug 2 of them? witch 2 should i plug, headers or the y pipe bungs? thanks for the help!

You want the 3" lap joint. You can run all four like I did or plug the back two.

You are probably going to want to either tune the rear O2's out or get sims for them. Without cats, the rear O2's are going to throw codes.

3'' lap joint band clamps for the headers and get some plugs for the back o2 sensors holes, you only need sensors in the front ones unless you are running cats.

I've used both the lap/butt clamps and they worked Ok. The Accuseal clamp worked much better. It's like 1 1/4" wide with a thicker band that clamps better than either the lap or butt style.

good info on the bung plug screws...i'll be ordering those. so it appears i'll need the 3" lap joint clamps, but how many? the xs header kit came with 3 u-clamps but i count 4 places that need clamping (left header to y, right header to y, top section of y to bottom section of y, end of y to rest of exhaust). should i clamp all of these places or are some of them not needed?

You will need 3 lap joint clamps for the Y and 1 butt joint clamp if you want to use a band clamp for the Y to cat back joint. Summit racing has the best band clamps I've found. Here's the lap joint and it's polished stainless too.

so the 3 lap joint clamps are a must but the y to catback butt joint isnt necessary? is there a stock clamp on there already that would suffice?

sorry for all the questions but i've never installed lt's before (it should be quite an "adventure" for me next week lol) and i dont wanna end up buying more install stuff than i have to.

I used a butt joint band clamp on my cat back to Y It makes it easier to remove. But it's not necessary.
