Default Hooker Muffler same as Hooker Cat-back?

I have an SS so my stock exhaust flows pretty well already (cat-back). So will I get the same effect from buying just the Hooker Aerochamber as I will from buying the entire cat-back? Has anybody done this?

I can't see why you wouldn't. My hooker catback has 3" piping all around, so I suppose if you put the Aerochamber on a similar 3" setup, it will have the same effect.

There are two different mufflers available. One is made to bolt up to stock and is a 2.75" inlet and 2.25" outlets, IIRC ... the other one is the same as the one that goes with the catback and is 3"/2.5".

RevGTO is correct...they are two different mufflers. Same interior construction, though.
The cat-back would give you more flexibility to support the gains of future modifications due to the larger pipe diameters.
Personally, I would either go with the cat-back or just get a cut-out in the intermediate pipe.

I think you should buy the whole cat-back, its cheap, sounds good, and you will feel good about it after you install with all new exhaust.

I'm thinking its just temporary though since I will be putting on true duals probably within the next 6 months.

I thuoght the SS's already had a 3" pipe though?

If you can not wait 6 months for the duals, just get the muffler. 1/4 diameter bigger inlet is not worth the extra money for the entire cat back. I have had the muffler for a long time.

yeah i'm just sick of being so quiet when i go to meets and everyone has headers/cams/true duals.

I'll prolly just go with true duals and wait the 5-6 months instead of wasting $90
