Default 2OTL or Loudmouth......help me decide.

I have a 1998 camaro ss with the M6. I have the loudmouth exhaust on it right now with stock manifolds and cats. I was thinking of switching to the two out the left (2otl). I like the sound of it but it is kinda annoying when I have to leave somewhere at 2 or 3 in the morning and it wakes everybody up. The main problem I have is on initial start up it is really loud. I like the looks of it. If anyone is interested in my loudmouth exhaust let me know ....it will be forsale soon.....

If anyone has any pictures or soundclips let me know.

If you switch to anything I would switch to a dual-dual, the 20TL isn't really all that great in my opinion, the dual-dual is one of the best systems out there right now...came stock on my car...

I had the LM before, and I had it w/LT headers through ORP's...it was LOUD...

My car came with the dual dual setup stock from slp. I really dont remember what it sounded like....all I remember is it was quiet. The thing I hate the most about the loudmouth exhaust is the fact that you have to put tips on it. I changed mine to the slash cut....not the slp ones.....too big for me..I got some 2.5".....I like the look of the slp 2OTL......I want it quieter......I can put a electric cutout on it if I want loud....I want good sounding loud....the loudmouth sounds like a tractor going slow....

I'm replacing my Borla with a SLP 2OTL sometime early next month. I also have that "Tractor" kind of sound and I really can't stand it. The car sounds great under WOT but just going thru the gears it sounds terrible. Here's a link to a site where there are sound clips of the 2OTL on a LS1 Formula. I'll let you know how I like the 2OTL once I get it installed.

My bro has the 2OTL on his 1996 camaro ss. It sounds pretty good. I hate the tips on mine. I had the dual but I put some 2.5" slash cuts. I dont know why they put tips on the loudmouth.......they should do the ends like the 2OTL.......Let me know what you think of yours when you get it installed....

I've had a 2OTL on my 99 and now on my 02. It sounds great and makes some good power. It is not loud enough to draw the attention of everyone around you like the loudmouth. The 2OTL is pretty quiet at idle and just cruising but it gets with it when you open it up. The loudmouth is just loud all the time.

The question should be do I want a muffler or no muffler exhaust system?

The 2otl is straight through muffler one 3 inch in, and two 2.5 inch out. A muffler helps deaden the high frequencies, and a resonator does not do much.

If you ever choose to install headers or an ORP, the LM is going to be very loud.

The sound clips on the page linked above are only fair.

I seem to recall that one of the sponsors here or elsewhere had it advertised for 370$ this month.

How about getting the lower rear bumper extension and doing a center-mounted system of some kind? I personally never liked any kind of exhaust on one side only.

Im really not a big fan of the center mounted exhaust. Im kinda in a bind... I need a clutch also so I dont want to spend too much on my exhaust. I love the look of polished tips. I dont mind 2 out the left. I think slp should make all there exhaust with polished ends.....not them stupid tips...thanks for the suggestion though

I think the dual-dual setup looks better than the 2otl. As for your sound, have you considered having a dynomax bullet installed instead of the loudmouth resonator. I've read that it makes it considerably more quiet.

My car came with the slp dual/dual on it. I then got the slp loudmouth with the same tips. I switched them to 2.5" slash cuts. It looks alot better. I still like when there are no tips and just polished stainless steel. I dont like to look from the side of the car and see the exhaust not polished. You have a WS 6 so you have more ground effects or plastic to cover it up...

I agree with you, I like the polished stainless look too. I think you should stick with that instead of doing 2otl.

How does the SLP aftermarket dual/dual compare to the 2OTL, sound wise?

SLP 2OTL is probably the best sounding cat-back I've heard yet on an LT1(swwwweeeeeeet!). Only heard a few sound clips of it on the LS1(nothing in person).

BTW, the SLP 2OTL will flow every bit as good as the SLP dual/dual if not better because of it's design. Besides, the dual/dual has about the weakest sound I've ever heard on a stock LS1(sounds just like stock!).

Get rid of your straight-piped LM and get the 2OTL.

Mike

My dual-dual is plenty loud with my FLP LT headers, through the ORP's to the dual-dual.. No rasp at all...
