Default Ported TB Problem

I recently purchased a ported LS6 intake with ported TB off an '04 GTO. I installed the intake this past Friday without an issue. The TB on the other hand does not work due to the larger "cam". Would a throttle cable from an '00 to '02 work? If so what is the P/N for a car with traction control. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Maybe I'm crazy, how would a new throttle cable fix a throttle body? Doesn't your car have a cable and the GTO have trottle by wire? I'm confused.

Because the "cam" where the cable attaches is much larger on the '04 TB. I am asking that if I change to the '00 to '02 throttle cable will it work.

I always thought that there were only two sizes of throttle cams. The 98-99 and the 2000-2004. Can you take a pic of your stocker and the one you just bought? Also you should just be able to swap the shaft from your original one to the ported one.

Yes I realize that the throttle cams are different from 97-99 and 00-02. I also know that I can swap them out but I would like to just use the GTO one if possible. Id rather spend the money on a new cable than risk messing up the TB trying to get the shaft out. Plus the fact the shaft has been cleaned up on the GTO one...

Not sure if the newer cable would work or not. My trans am also had the larger arm but I switched it to the older smaller arm because it gives you a better throttle response feel because it's smaller and opens up faster. You don't have to worry about damaging anything switching them. It's very easy

Very easy, take the two small screws out of the throttle blade and then slide the blade out. The remove the TPS sensor if you haven't done so already. Then take a rubber hammer and hit the end of the shaft to drive it out. It is kinda tight right at first because of the little washer that is on the end of the shaft. You can't just pull the washer off so you must just drive the shaft out through. When putting it back togethor you don't have to put the washer back on. I never have and have never had a problem.

I swapped out the throttle shafts last evening. It went really smooth. I also cut the front of the shaft and trimmed the mounting screws for the blade. The only thing I had to do was adjust the throttle stop as it did not want to idle below 1000 rpm once warm. After adjusting I got it back to approx. 750 rpm where it was before. Thanks again for everyone's help and saving me some money.

alot of times when the shaft gets cut you have to put small washersunder the two screws so that the blade can be centered. If you noticed the two holes in the blade really isn't round, kinda egg shaped. The screws don't really fit flush so it tends to want to push the blade from side to side making it want to bind.
But anyway glad you got it figured out.
