RPMs hanging after Ported TB

Default RPMs hanging after Ported TB

Not sure if it has anything to do with the TB being ported which Bo did a freaking awesome job on by the way...thanks again man. Anyways now when im coming to a stop the RPMs will hang at like 1500 sometimes even go up and then will finally after i completely stop moving drop back to idle at 900. Sometimes it will hang at 1100 or 1000 then drop when completely stopped. Any ideas?

Hey where are you at in ol DE? Anyway have you just put it in and started driving or has it been doing it for a bit? If you just installed it it may just have to relearn the idle.

mine stays around 1200 i dont know who ported it but it does that when i coast to a stop.

Im in good ol HarrENTUN or Harrington for non rednecks haha. No its been on the car for about 2 months and I was hoping that it would stop after the dynotune but no dice. I thought that my microswitch was snaggin it but i checked and it doesnt seem to be hitting. I guess I could try an idle re-learn again but I did that after i got the TB on and no luck.

Weird. Did yours come with it ported? Or did you buy it already ported and put it on? I can live with it I guess just wanna know why its doing it ya know.

I and other porters have noticed they do hold a higher than usual idle when comin to a rolling/coasting stop and then drop down once stopped completely. On a relearn, just unplug the IAC and TPS and cut the key to the on position but dont start, a couple of seconds later turn the key off, plug the sensors back up and turn the key back on, a couple of seconds later start the engine. It will now "relearn".

Another thing I have noticed , if the car is tuned with the throttle body unported with a cam , and then you get it ported and everything is cleaned including around the IAC area , the idle tune could possibly use to be readdressed .

On my car my TB is not ported and it will still hold 1100-1200 rpms while coming to a stop then go down when I completely stop. My eclipse does it too.

My s10 did that stock and so does my T/A sometimes. It's just something weird I think. Now if it was any higher or not dropping then I could see an issue.

The relearn procedure should help; if not, tuning your Desired Airflow tables lower should cure it. Worked for me.

Non-ported TB here as well. Occasionally, I will see the RPMs hang around 12-1500. The situation usually resolves on its own. Probabaly happens once or two every few months. I figured it was the throttle cable stickin..

Mine did this also, I pluged the little whole in the blade with epoxy in case i needed to redrill it and clean it out but it fixed it so I just kept it. I figured it was just getting to much air then what it was designed for, but what do I know other then it fixed it.

mine does idle higher when coming to a stop and will then usually drop once it stops. Any way to tune this out without lowering my idle when stopped?

I had the exact same problem. There is just alot more air comin in so it will idle higher till your completely stopped. A local guy here "Rhino79" tunes ALL the central AR cars, and when he was tuning mine, he just took the code out that lets a small amount of air in between shifts to make it smooth. Shifts are a bit rough at first but you learn to make em smooth. Now my rpms drop instantly like I have a light weight flywheel or somethin. PM Rhino79 and just ask him the details about what I said.
