Not using correct bolts for your FAST intake = broken intake!!
Not using correct bolts for your FAST intake = broken intake!! So I had a shop (no names here but it was not my current shop) use different nuts and bolts then what is typically sent with the FAST intake.
I had the biggest vacuum leak that caused a 3k idle that I could not figure out for weeks. After every hose and sensor replaced, I finally pulled the intake since I never imagined that could be it.
Here are the results:
Bolts on valley must be low profile head, these are not
Length of crack
Big bolt closeup
Marks one of the bolts was making
I am sharing this to show everyone that there is no quick and easy way.
Use the supplied bolts that come with. If you lose them, get new ones.

I filed on mine as well as flattened out the stock cooling lines. It was off the car about a week ago and I checked it over just to see if it was causing this problem. Looked good to me. Sucks that happened to you.

am i understanding this correctly? you need to switch the bolts on the valley to a smaller headed bolt in order for the intake to fit, but that didn't happen so the intake cracked when it was torqued down?

Yes, all you have to do is pop the old ones off. They are too tall and rub the FAST.
