Pacesetter, not a power difference really but a little better quality from what I've heard.

Do any of these headers have what they call the "scavaging" effect?

The sound will be the same from most any longtube header. Where you will affect the sound of your catback is what you do with the Y-pipe. If you don't like the sound of an Off-road y-pipe with the borla you could add some hi-flow cats or a bullet-type muffler in the I-pipe.

I've heard mixed reviews on it, some people seem to really like it while others say it sounds bad/raspy. Maybe some of the people who have this setup can chime in. I personally would have hi-flow cats (or muffler in I pipe) on any y-pipe setup I had.

Well you can buy off-road and catted y-pipes that you can install yourself pretty easily. If you wanted to add a muffler in the I-pipe it would have to be fabbed in by an exhaust shop or someone with a welder.

I bought the flowtechs about 3 years ago, installed them on the ground and by myself in a day. The drivers side steering knuckle was the worst part of the entire ordeal. I have no complaints what so ever about the flowtechs. I have the ORY and with the SLP Dual Dual muffler installed it is not raspy at all. It is actually very quiet, sounded almost stock until the TR224 cam went in, now it is still tame at idle and only slightly louder at WOT. I would recommend getting a good set of collector gaskets, I finally bought the Percy's reusable gasket, made from a very soft pliable multi layered metal for about $20 bucks. The doughnut gasket that comes with them is crappy and I could not get it to stop leaking.

Either one is a big improvement.

Thumbs up PaceSetter

out of the 2 you are picking from PS vs FT,
i would go with Pacesetter Long Tube Headers,
i bought the "RACE" set, and matching y-pipe armor coated
I just installed mine last sat...
love the fittment, and ground clearance, and sounds pretty dang good.
i am still using my stock CME exhaust system.
i will have pics soon.

No power diff. but the FT's are made very cheap IMO.Go with the coated Pacesetter.

Neither do. they have to be "stepped" to have the scavenging effect. Like the 1 3/4 to 1 7/8 stepped Kooks. an extra like $120 or somethin.

Dont know of th others, but the Pacesetters will be rusty in less than a year,,,driving much or not, rain or not. Period. they are gonna rust,,usually at the flanges or collecters first,,i have not seen a pair of the others, so i have no idea there....pacesetters i have never bought, but everyone i know that has bought them has shown me the rust. Good luck

I have had them both, on two diff cars. The Pacesetters are higher quality. The sound and power will be the same. Go with the Pacesetters between those two.

Do NOT go with flowtech. Took me 3 times as long to install them and still had to modify their ory y-pipe a little to fit. Pacesetters are so much easier to install and are better quality in my opinion. With the pacesetters i didnt hav to mess with the steering knuckle, which saved a lot of time in the install. But they both sound the same, bad ***! You should definitely go with the ory. I went with the magnaflow catback instead of the borla because the borla was just too loud for my taste. Get a nice set of coated pacesetter LT and an ory and u will not be disappointed.

my flowtechs fit absolutely perfect...

all i did was cut a little of the excess casting material off one spot on the block...more of a precaution. that took all of 2 min with a hacksaw.

the ypipe fit 100% perfect on the first try. clearances were perfect for the frame
now i did have poly motor mount to keep engine movement down (and exhaust)...and would recocmend that to ANYONE doing ANY header. they are SO Much easier to swap when the manifolds are off.

the collectors on mine rusted after about 18months...but they were also submerged in salt water (ocean flood) during Hurricane Wilma in 05.

pics of the headers can be found on page 2 of my website in the sig...and my install guide on page 11
