Default Port and polish throttle body?

Hi guys, looking at porting my 98 Z28 A4 with a stock throttle body. I'm talking about a quality job not an improper DYI project either. After you had yours done did you feel a difference? Was it only on the dyno or track? Snappier throttle?, let me know. My mods are slp lid, fra, tb bypass, magnaflow catback.

i had mine done by a sponsor SmokinTA not sure if he is still doing it, but the quality was great. really didnt feel much, but it all adds up in the long run. it might now help much not but if or when you add the the real power mods like h/c it will help out much more. try a search there is all the info you will need here! good luck

I did mine myself.. However, it's not an "improper DIY job.."

I was going to send it out to Bo White to do and the day I was getting ready to box it up, my wife said "So, you and your dad are going to tear the entire engine apart to put the heads and cam in and you can't smooth that thing out?"

A challenge was laid forth.. So I did it myself..

I took my time and I think it turned out great.. I haven't been to the track with it, but the throttle response is definitely much better and this could totally be in my head and probably is, as I don't drive the TA everyday, but it seems the exhaust note is a lil' different..

smokinta also did mine and he did an amazing job too. I got his best quality one wich has the epoxy in it and noticed a difference in power and throttle response. And i allready had a crappy one in there that I ported. My car is M6 though. Check out my sig for power and times. I belive he told me that someone dynod there car after they put it on and it gained 9 hp to the wheels.

I got a smokin87ta one too. I noticed the car was noticeably stronger afterwards...but I also did an LS6 intake at the same time so most of the power probably came from that.

Its deffinatley worth the money in my book. But I think you will notice more of a difference on an M6 car then an A4 car.

I have never ported my anything until my throttle body. I did it myself and it turned out good. Just took my time and learned. Did the bump stop mod, ported, polished, filled in the hole, and cut the shaft off of the butterfly. Its quite easy but takes some patience. And i noticed throttle response difference. The next weekend at the track i ran 2 tenths better than my consistent 12.9. I don't know if it was the ported tb. Or putting a purge. But either way. Do it!!!

I had my TB ported by New Era Performance. They did a good job. At first i didnt notice anything until i ran into a Lightening that wanted to run on the highway. I really felt the gain up top in the upper RPM's.

New Era Performance. With bump stop. I havent run it at the track all year so thats out, it is cripser, dont know how much power i got, do i like it.......yes for now until I get my 90mm nick williams and 90 fast intake. .

porting it and sticking the SSRA on, really woke it up. There is a great write up on installuniversity.com about the FTRA, same thing just about as the SSRA, and it proved the amount of air going in the engine, so im thinking doing these two mods gave me probably 5-10rwhp. roughly.

I did not notice a difference with mine - I don't see how anyone seriously could. It might be worth a couple percent power increase at best and that would be almost impossible to detect SOP. Improvements probably need to be at least 5% but more likely 10% before you can feel them.

That said, I am in the "every-little-bit helps" camp and think it is a good mod.

Ron at GMMG now of Vengeance Racing & Development did mine for me in about a hour on and off the car ... probably 3 to 5 HP that you realy can't feel but a much crisper throttle responce that you can feel ... I was way to lazy to fool with it .. I just dropped by the shop one evening and he knocked it out while I drank a few beers and checked out all the wide body Dickie Harrell Edition cars that were under construction ..
