Default Throttle Body Bypass Mod..

Not that this is a difficult mod, but I thought pictures always make things easier for me, so while I did mine, I snapped a few..

The process is easy..

All you need:

Tools:

Flat head screw driver
Plyers

Parts:

2 - 7/16" Worm Clamps
1 - 2" Barbed Brass Fitting
2 - Rubber Caps (optional)

First step:

Remove the connectors from both the MAF and Air Lid. Loosen the rear most worm clamp, to facilitate removal of the Air Lid and Maf. Pic 1.

Remove stock coolant lines from Throttle Body. To do this, use the plyers and flat head screwdriver to pull the stock hose clamps back to ease pulling the coolant lines off the TB. Pic 2.

Once these clamps are removed, simply pull the hoses off the TB. Pic 3.

Once these are removed, slide 1 of the 7/16th worm clamps over each of the loosened coolant lines. Pic 4 and 5.

Next, slide the 2" Barbed Brass fitting into the ends of the coolant lines you just removed from the throttle body and tighten the clamps. Pic 6 and 7.

Optional: Install rubber caps over coolant inlets on the throttle body to keep dust/debris out. Pic 8.

Reinstall the MAF and Air Lid, reconnector connectors and adjust to make sure the coolant lines are not rubbing the pulleys.

All done...

I did mine without the brass fittings. I just used 1 sold piece of tubing and the vacuum caps. I also reused the mesh tube covering from the factory so it looks more stock (pictured below).

Yeh, I've thought about going that route..

I may do that when I pull the heads for the swap..

Option: grip the coolant tubes with pliers and twist them out of the TB so it doesn't look like somethings missing. Enjoy your 0hp gain.

Complicated? It took about 5 minutes to complete.. I guess complicated is in the eye of the beholder.. I'm not big on using zip ties to hold my car together..

How did you do with with unplugging anything?

You had to pull the lines off of somewhere.. In the very least, you had to remove the lines from the throttle body...

Don't worry about the shade tree mechanics! Let me know if there is a difference with the bypass mod!

Look at the dyno graph posted in post #8..

They got 6.6hp over stock.. Pretty good for something that is:

a.) Free
b.) Non-detrimental to the engine

Thats it... removed the lines off the tb and just slid a rubber hose under the tb and slid it onto the other line coming of the block and the line coming off of the radiator.. small black zip ties werent even needed due to the hose being so snug but i did it anyway looks factory and you wouldnt have to buy that metal piece and you realy dont need to unplug anything, i think i acutualy used a piece of the rubber hose that goes to the air pump whatever it was the hose came of the car at one point that i used lol.......

Sounds like you didn't unplug anything less than I unplugged.. The only thing I unplugged were the lines to the throttle body..

Also, if it is working for you, that is great..

It sounds like a coolant leak just waiting to happen to me and not the way I would do it..

I took my TB off when I did it, it's hard to believe the tubes only go through a 3/4" or thinner piece on the bottom of the TB. I thought the TB had a coolant passage in it or something that allowed it to run inside the casting.
It is hard to believe you picked up power from that.
I took the tubes out of the TB to clean it up and not have unused stuff hanging around.
Other than that I did it the same way you did.

Even if it doesn't add any power, it's still very nice to have done as it makes removing your tb, intake, etc much easier.
