True dual exhaust question. Talked briefly to a guy at work yesterday who has a mean (and loud) sounding mustang. I asked if he still had the cats on there. He said yes, but he had the exhaust converted to true duals from the cats back to the bumper, with no X or H pipe.
My question is, does anyone make a kit like that for f-bodies, or would it have to be fabricated at a shop?

it can be done at the shop but can be easily fabricated. that is how my exhaust is currently, but you say he has true duals to his bumper, you cant do this with a f body you must do dumps if i am correct due to suspension etc.
I have true duals to the bumper with an H pipe, and there is no problem with suspension components unless you hit a substantial bump. I have about 3.75" of ground clearance from the lowest point on the system, and everything is at least 1.75" away from fuel and brake lines.

As others have said duals dumped at the rear axle are the most cost-effective way of running a true dual exhaust. I would say if cats arent an issue then dump them or gut them and leave the shells there for visual inspection. Since you have a T/A your right you will probably want to run them over the axle and out the back so you dont have the holes in the bumper not filled in with tips. Id say check out a local shop that has a good rep for duals and have them build you some or check out the bassani true dual system that is made by vinci hi-performance that runs out the back.

A X or H pipe will sound better than duals without them, I think. And, the crossover helps scavanging, so performance wil be better as well. Our cars sound better, not worse, with cat verters. Longtubes into true duals with cats sounds bad ***.
you can route duals over the axle. Speed Inc. e-mailed me a quote of a whopping $800 more than just dumping them. Part of the cost to fab it up was the panhard relocation kit, IIRC.

a BMR panhard relocation kit is all of $149, so I would probably do that with the true duals if you wanna run it out the back, I am about to place my order! I got lucky, my buddy's shop did my true duals for $100 parts/labor in 2.5" stainless, because I told them that I didn't think they could do it and the owner bet me $100.

Looks real nice! I dunno im just very cautious when it comes to riding with an exhaust that low, but that may be due to the absolutely ridiclously shitty roads in massachusetts lol. My slp blistein shock/spring combo (lowered the car about an inch) was a bitch to drive with mac headers and a magnaflow catback. Also, is yours flanged right before the rear axle? Looks like it and that was going to be my other question, how does everyone get at their rear end? The two under-axle setups I saw were not flanged and the whole exhaust would have to be removed to get at the rear end, which would be a bitch. Those tips though look sweet!
