**** maybe 500whp then.
parts for LS1s are crazy cheap compared to what i'm used to. granted it's 8 of everything. beats 4 or 6. that, and there's no turbos, $1k manifolds, $1k ecu, intercoolers, etc.
i'm going to ask more people/shops who have actually built LS1s that do what i want and see what it costs, etc.
i've had an sr20det (4 cyl turbo nissan motor) bottom end built by a friend and a local engine builder. (he bored it .20 over, polished the crank, and boiled block.) it went well and didnt cost as much as i thought it would.
would an LS2 need as much money in it to rev to 7k? they're a lot more, but i kinda want one anyway. doubt i'll spend the money on the ls2.

whats the big deal, I launch with my 2 step between 6,400-6,800 rpm and power shift at 7000rpm. That was all with the stock bottom end. I have upgraded my rod bolts and now I'm going with a bigger cam so it might spin a little higher if needed. I guess I'll have to wait and see where the power drops off on the dyno

Im still waiting on that dyno graph and if your looking to get into an argument about it, it aint gunna happen. Plus you arent drifting your car now are you? therefore, you are not sitting at 7K for minutes on end as well as sitting on a slanted road risking oil starvation without a dry sump, especially at such high rpms. You are comparing shoes to chairs.......this thread is silly.
