Default Looking to Mod. What should I get first??

The car has 70,000 and is a 2001 TA, always has been stock except for a thermostat. I used to have a 96 Ws6.

Basically I wanna know what some good starter mods are for the Ls1

K&N?
Intake?
Headers?
Exhaust?

(AND WHAT BRANDS-BEST BANG FOR UR BUCK)

I lost some of my TA knowledge cuz I went and got a forced induction car. Need some guidence again!

If your car's an A4 I would highly recommend a big 'ole stall as one of the first mods' behind a lid and CB. If it's an M6 I'd got with the lid, CB (or duals) and a set of LTs.

Most of these will likely require a tune for optimal power and operation.

Nice Cobalt! I've got Cavalier for my commuter, but I'd like to upgrade it to one of those eventually. My Fbody mod history, somewhat in order, is in my sig. I'd like to do a small cam next.

PS. I'd skip the K&N. Just keep a fresh Fram in there.

I agree with skipping the K&N, but get a lid of your choice.

FYI; Your 2001 came with the LS6 intake. This is a very well performing intake and you do not need to change this intake unless you have some major mods.

You also may want to consider a complete tune up as your first "mod". Change all fluids, get some NGK TR55's, change your wires, ect....

Best bang for buck:

Cheapest lid you can find, used or new.
Exhaust Cut-out

Which transmission? Best bang for the buck is a torque converter. Need an auto for that, though. Also, of course, a simple lid, LS6 intake if not an 01-02 model, new muffler/cat-back/cutout, "CAI" and maybe gears if a manual.
