Default 400fwhp without going into the motor ?

i was wondering is it possible to get 400hp without doing a head and cam job ? i was thinking about doing bolt ons to get that but is anyone running close to that even with some motor modifications ? the reason being i am trying to make my car streetable because it is my daily driver

You can get to 400 hp with bolt ons and a cam.Theres no reason it would affect it as a daily driver unless you got a really large cam.

I've been wondering the same thing. I think it's definitley possible. I don't know how true it is, but I've read that there's about a 15% loss in HP through the drivetrain. I dynoed 323 RWHP with just a lid and a GMMG catback. If the loss is really 15%, that would mean my car had approximately 371 HP at the FW. I've since added AR longtube headers and a tune. I've seen posts claiming HP gains of up to 27HP with just the AR's on a dyno, so I'm thinking my car could easily be around 400 FWHP now. I haven't dynoed the LTs yet, but the car sure feels a lot faster. It pulls much quicker to redline and the tires get loose at higher rpms like never before.
The only drawback is that the clutch pedal is starting to stick again when I really get into it. I got updated hydros and a Z06 clutch a couple years ago, and the setup is supposed to hold 450 HP. I hope I don't have to upgrade it again soon.

mine's very streetable except it's hard for me to cruise below 30MPH with the M6 behind the engine. But with Pacesetter mid-length headers, Mac ORY, Corsa cat-back, Fast 78mm intake manifold, ported polished TB, MSD plug wires, K+N air filter, SLP lid, free ram air mod, custom tune through pcmforless, Speed Inc SI007 cam (228/222 .588 113lsa +3.5 If I remember right) with 918 springs, hardened pushrods, SLP ported oil pump and rollmaster double roller timing chain, I made the numbers in my sig. Since then I've added AR Long Tube headers with their off road y.

The car is honestly very streetable, I love to drive it everywhere, the only things that gets annoying is the bumper to bumper traffic when I'm going 15-25 for 10 min or more cuz I'm constantly working the clutch so the car won't jolt. and the exhaust is a bit loud at 70+ cruising speed which could be easily fixed with a resonator or adapter of some sort. The cam is barely noticeable, it has a slight lope at idle that's just enough to tell it has a cam but the car isn't sputtering, and cruising idle is very smooth. with 2.73's and the M6 I get 21MPG city and 30+ highway

400 FWHP? intake full exhaust and a tune should put you there . . . why not 400RWHP though? a buddy of mine in his 02 SS M6 did 417RWHP with a 224/224 cam, pulley, kooks LT's and a tune

... o.O
that would be good considering you have a RWD car and can't make front wheel horsepower. :] 400 rwhp in ls1s are easy man, my friend has a baby 224/224 cam, a full exhaust, and a lid and it made 401 tuned.

anythings possible, but no cam is pushing it for 400rwhp

a cam isnt as intrusive as you may think, some guys here have already done 8 or 9 with no problem. great hp/$ mod too. you cna pick one thats just about stock to maintain driveability as well

I've seen cars make 350-360rwhp through an M6/10-bolt with BOLTONS, call 'em factory freaks, but they're out there.

350 / .85 = 412hp (crank)

yeah those guys are some of the lucky ones. and like i said, anythings possible, but best shot to get that is get a cam, plus you get the added benefit of the sound, and if you get good stuff, a better and stronger valvetrain, which sets you up for bigger things down the road

Yeah my car is one of those. I dynoed 345rwhp on a Mustang Dyno (statistically lower than a DynoJet) with only a lid, LT's, ORY through an electric cutout and 4:10 gears in the stock 10 bolt. No tune either. I still have the LS1 intake, stock TB, no pullies or anything. I'm hoping for 360rwhp or a bit more once I get the full boltons done.

I dynoed 340hp and 350tq, before ported t-body, and no LT, just ORY.
Thinking of getting cam and LT next, want to get 400+hp too.
