BG Ram Air mod................. Is it a good one for my motor?
I was told to remove both baffles and it'll be good for .15 in the 1/4 and about 15 HP. This is the ET improvemnt on my friends bone stock 2000 WS6, everything else was factory stock.

I have heard that it works, and ive also heard that it doesnt do crap. Either way it is probally worth doing. Just be sure you can plug it, incase you get caught out in the rain.

And about the mod, I did a similar one with my Ultra-Z Hood and with a ported TB my 1/4 dropped .3.

The only down side to it is the fact that you have to block it off in the rain.

Re: BG Ram Air mod................. alot of people on ls1.com swear by it. it really helps gas mileage as well as shaving .1-.2 off of your quarter mile. plus if you have an oil based filter, most dont even bother with the rain blocker.
I feel cheated...

Re: BG Ram Air mod................. I have had the mod for about 6 month now and love it, other than having to use the rain blocker when it pours. I do not even worry about putting the rain blocker in if it is only sprinkling, but if it is a pretty good rain you need it. Because, if you dont "you will" throw a code that will go away eventually. It does help out tons on the road and in the 1/4 mile. I removed the baffles and you can notice a big difference with the mod and the baffles removed.
IMO it is a good investment to make your WS-6 a TRUE Ram Air.
Make sure you keep the foam seal well lubricated, if not you will tear the hell out of it.

Re: BG Ram Air mod................. Very unlikely it would increase a dyno number unless your tuner dynos the car hot wiith the hood closed normally (and if you have, say, stainless header). The cooler air in that situation may pony up a tiny amount. This mod can only be judged at the track and open road. I'd bet at speeds over 100 mph it starts to make a more bigger difference that is hard to "feel", but definately there. Mine is still in the box...3 months later...as it Brets TB...aahhhh..someone just come do it for me...I'm tired.

Re: BG Ram Air mod................. I took off the seal and it's holder, gained 1.5mph. If you run with the seal, don't race with the nostril grills in!, you need every bit of that opening you can get. Brian recommends taking the grills out for racing too, I think. Look at the open area of your lower air box section, now calculate the open area of the nostril grill holes...considerable difference. On a WS6 box, you come up about 50% short, on a stock box about 25%.
