Default FTRA blocking tranny cooler?

I've got my tranny cooler mounted in front of my radiator. If I put the FTRA kit on won't it just block my tranny cooler and make it run hot? Anybody have any experience with that setup?

Depending on where you mounted the tranny cooler I doubt the FTRA will even fit as it runs close to the surface of the rad.

I never mount aux coolers to my rad with those barbed ties anyway - they eventually loosen up, vibrate, and wear a hole thru the tubes of your rad. I custom mounted my tranny cooler behind the bottom opening in the front nose on PS and oil cooler same position on DS - used custom aluminum brackets and existing bolt locations.

I had the FTRA - car ran hotter than before install due to large portion of rad being blocked by ducting. Finally got rid of the FTRA and went with Volant - car runs cooler now that obstruction is gone...

The primary reason I hacked my SLP CAI up, was exactly
this. The fact that it was making my IATs hotter too, kept
me from being sad about it.

You might just reorient or relocate the trans cooler (like
mount it vertical next-to, rather than horizontal behind).

One of the big reason why I don't have FTRA on mine. I value my tranny life more than measly .1 gain. Tranny cooler/stall>FTRA.

You can have FTRA and a cooler - just got to be creative on how you mount the cooler.

To run the FTRA and a trans cooler, you need to mount the the cooler off the rad. Search on trans cooler "dope" style and you should find some links. It's never a bad idea to get the cooler off the rad anyways.

As far as IAT temps go, the FTRA will get you as close to ambient as possible. The SLP kit cannot say the same thing

I think dope style would only work if the owner opt to get the rinky dink small cooler for their tranny.

This is my tranny cooler.

Been wondering the same thing except I have the SSRA. May have to read up on this "dope" style to figure out where to mount the cooler
