LQ4 vs LS1 Heads. Which is best for my setup?
Hello,
Need a little help guys. Im bulding a project car and have two differnt sets of heads. Heres the engine specs:
- Stock 2003 6.0 LQ4 short block
- ARP rod bolts
- Victor Jr. intake manifold
- MSD setup
- Holley 750dp
- Electric water pump
- comp cams valve train
- Comp cams ( cam specs )
- Dur. @ .050 238/244
- Lift .586/.596
- LSA 114
- 150HP shot nitrous
I know the lq4 heads flow better, but the LS1 heads will bring my compression up. I am running cometic head gaskets. Please let me know which ones I should run and why? Also should I shave them any? Thanks in advance,
Antony

If the are #317 heads i would use them, i would have them milled to bring up the compression a little, Really not that expensive under $100 and that way you know they are perfectly straight as well. Also run .040 compressed thickness cosmetics as it will increase compression and have a better quench. Tim
