1998 Z-28 with no cats?
1998 Z-28 with no cats? Im looking into buying a 98 Z-28 but the car has no cats. Does this affect the performance of these cars at all? I know with some cars it sets your ecu into limp mode, but not sure about these. Any help would be apprecaited. The guy says it has a service engine light or whatever, but that it can be deleted.
Most of the cars that come through our shop have previously had the cats removed. It does not send the computer into any kind of limp mode, but it will throw a check engine light and the car won't be able to pass the computer emissions test with the light on. Computer tuning can fix that for you.
I'd have the computer codes checked before you purchase the car - as John02Hawk mentioned, there could be other (serious) problems with the vehicle.

like stated above just check the codes. My TA had a bad AIR pump and the check engine bulb was taken out when I bought it. I didnt care because I transferred my tags(no emissions on a transfer). I just deleted AIR on HP tuners so no worries here, but just double check!
