Default Shortening LS1 Composite Intake for HP Gain?

I heard the stock LS1/LS6 intake runners are 15 inches long. Has anyone tried cutting the runner to make them short for more top end power?

Many people have cut up stock intakes and haven't found any gains over a LS6 intake.

Porting mine was worth an estimated 5-8 HP.

I have notice that performance intakes on carb motor are shorter than street intakes. The trends is that the shorter intake runner promote upper RPM horsepower at the cost of some torque.

Cartek isalways working on intake changes as is Lou at LG from what I understand. Maybe Lou was working with the tuel rail...dont remember ...try sending mail. I know the ls6 intake is a limiting factor,,, Im sure this intake is what causes all TQ and HP to cross at 5250 rpm.

Actually hp and trq will aways cross at 5250, that's just the relation of how hp is derived from trq.

When is someone going to come out with a carb intake for an LS1?

(I'd never use one, but I'm surpised it hasn't been done yet)

Well PSJ posted that someone was working on a new intake a while back. What ever came of that?

It's more like 10 inches on an LS1. (Short side 7-3/4, and long side 12-1/2). Besides, changing length on that manifold appears to be almost impossible; the runner is the manifold.

I think the LS6 might be a tad shorter. It's not just length, it's size matched to what the engine wants that makes more power under the curve.
