Got solid motor mounts? Step in.
Got solid motor mounts? Step in. I hope this is in the right section. I am going to be installing solid motor mounts this weekend and I "have a friend who" told me that if I install them they might mess with my knock sensor since I have a cammed car. I told him they wont. Just thought I'd ask the sources who own em. Also are they a fuggin pain to get in and are they way better than poly?
i have solids. i like them. why would the knock sensors be affected from them. the engine doesn't move. i have spohn solids and they are lighter than stock ones. i repalced them during my header install. i have a slight rattle from 600-800 rpms, but its nothing. overall, the car feels more solid.
i love my spohn solids. they were a pita to get on with the headers still on though. the only thing i moved was the alt. and it took me about 6 hours by myself. the only advice i can give you is to do 1 side at a time and don't tighten them down until there both in

I have solids in my '94. Very easy to install since the motor was out.
I like them, but only because it is a track car. Along with the cam and true duals, they really make the car shake and my dash vibrates. However, I wanted maximum throttle response and torque, and minimal flex, so for a track car they are great.
For a street car I'd go with the Prothane poly mounts. Stiffer than rubber, but not extreme like the solids. The poly's should take care of header or Y-pipe banging but not make the car shake.

Run the solid fronts and a poly on the trans, I don't know where people get they are a big deal or they will rattle your teeth out. I have had solid mounts on a few cars and never had a problem.
