Default Who has angle milled their heads?

Alright, planning on angle milling some 6.0 heads .030 i believe, correct me if im wrong. Angle milling will make it so the intake will still bolt up with no problems. There's a guy in the DFW area who did this but was on a 6.0 and with a cam only, produced 470hp. Im planning to do something similar but on a 5.7. Anyone who has this done, help is appreciated and maximum mill suggestions and if anything else will need to be done to install. Milling will raise the compression. I heard the 6.0 heads flow better than the LS1 heads, my LS1 heads are the 806 casting so they are horrible, the 6.0 is the 317 casting. Thanks

Angle milling really isnt necessary with the composite intakes such as ls1 ls6 and fast since they can flex a little. On metal manifolds such as on older motors it was used to line up the manifold bolts. With a composite intake you can mill the heads .050 and not have any problems. Just be careful that with large cams you might have to fly cut valve reliefs in the pistons. Tim

The LS2 6.0L heads have a 4.0" bore and will not work a LS1 due to the 3.9" bore.

Angle milling was an old trick to improve valve angle on the SBC. The LSx motors have a much better valve angle and this is not really necessary and the results would be minimal. Better off to spend your money getting the heads ported. 470 crank HP is easily atianable with stock heads and a big cam. There is no way those numbers were at the rear wheels.

They will work, tons of people use 317 heads for different applications especially FI. I am running them. They are basically low compression ls6 243 heads. Large bore heads such as l92's ect will not work. Tim

yes, they are just like LS6 heads but bigger chambers which is why you have to mill them to bring compression up, and also the guy with the LQ4 with the heads milled .030 and a cam did make 470 to the wheels with dyno sheet.

as far as not angle milling, i heard if you dont angle mill, it will cause the intake to not align and have seen several threads with people having issues. If I do it angle milled .030 do I have to get new or shorter pushrods or is that not a big enough difference to cause any issues.
