Default New 85mm Fast Toys Lid, if you have a z28 come inside

Wondering how many people purchased this lid with a Z28 and the lid fit properly with no fitment issues...i have seen 3 posts now with a 98 99 and 00 where the lid didn't fit on a stock hood z28...

if your fit and you have a z28 please post...i do not want to get it if it isn't going to fit or until fast toys comes out with a second version...thanks

I just put one on my SS. I had a SLP and it rubbed also on the hood just a small amount. The Fast Toys does not rub any more.

I had an unknown aftermarket lid on my car that rubbed, and the new 85mm lid rubs in the same spot. I have an aftermarket hood though, so I cant really speak for stock clearance.

We phoned quite a few customers last Friday to try and figure out if it was a specific year or model that had problems. This is what we found:

SS cars with stock or aftermarket hoods: Lid installs fine and rubs on hood (similiar to the what SLP lid does). Most people just put a piece of tape or adhesive soft vecro on the spot and were happy.

Firebirds, WS6 and Firehawk: No reported issues.

Aftermarket hoods other than SS: No reported issues

1998-2002 Z28: We spoke to two 1998 Z28 customers that said the lid fit and didn't even rub. 3 1999 Z28 customers had problems from the hood not even closing to one that closed but had to be forced shut. An 00 Z28 customer had a problem with the hood closing but trimmed the metal where it contacted on the hood support and the air box base and it now fits and doesn't rub any more.

We have updated our web page with this information. Thanks!

Thanks. The problem with Z28's is very odd!

My SLP definitely rubs, but I have no problem closing the hood. I haven't heard of this problem before. It's too bad as the new FT lid seems like a good piece.

Very good of you to inform people of the potential problem on your website! Alot of less reputable companies wouldn't do that. Shows good ethics and definitely makes me more inclined to buy your products!

I have a z28 and it doesn't rub. But I have a 4" cowl hood. Just get a bigger hood Chris, that will solve your problem.

We had two more customers test fit on 00 Z28's and they both fit with just some rubbing (hood closed fine). We still caution Z28 customers that we have had a couple of issues and offer a refund if the lid doesn't work for them.

finally got done with my cam install and got to see if the lid was going to hit...it cleared but not by much maybe 3/16"...my whole setup is also recessed about 1in back too (from my max effort ram air) which helps the lid have more clearance too...

posted some pics too

Prop's to you for being up front about your product. I bought your FTRA for my firehawk and things like this make me feel even better about doing so.

Chris you have a similar setup as mine. I have not got to run my car with my new additions Headers, Fast 90/90, Cam, injectors, tune. I run ET streets. I hope to get similar numbers to yours in the spring. I still have to install the FTRA setup also, its kind of cold out in the garage now though.
