Default Insertable cats

I have seen catalytic convertors that get inserted into a 3" pipe instead of being welded/clamped to the pipe. However, I cannot fid them anywhere. Does anyone know where to find such a thing?

I think Hooker offers them with their y-pipe to make it a "catted" y-pipe. I don't think that would pass a visual inspection because they don't look like cats, but as long as the tailpipe emission's pass I guess the visual doesn't matter. If you do put those in, I would take some pictures to prove they're in the exhaust in case they don't believe you.

My Jet-Hot Y has these. But I think they're kind of a joke
(little wire-ball is going to scrub the exhaust like a full brick?)
and they don't even look like cats from the outside. And
more than one person has burnt right through theirs.

FLP (?) I think made headers / Y where the cats were
flanged and a straight piece was also provided, this is a
clean way to go and any exhaust shop could flange you
a pair of cats and a pair of identical tubes. Flanges cost
a little clearance but maybe can go wherever you have
some.

I don't have to worry about visual inspection or emissions. Actually, my main concern is Db (loudness) of the exhaust here. Does anyone sell these seperately from a y-pipe?

It does matter. I can make a car easily pass the tail pipe test woth NO cats. But it STILL will fail becasse it has to have cats. And you can save receipts and take all the picsyou want. Those cats aren't EPA approved. Unless your car is being tested by your buddy or you payy off the attendent, it's not gonna pass.

That aside, those in-pipe cats are crap. The reduced surface area raises back pressure and therefor robs more power than a normal cat. Just get a set of the bullet style cats. They flow good and the small size only minimally effects ground clearance.

The flanged idea is good. I would go this route. You will for sure pass, and it wont be a pain to switch the cats for pipe.

We sell some really small Random Tech bullet cats. That would be a much better way to go!
