Default A little lost on exhaust combinations...

I've been reading the faq section for a while now and since im a noob to domestics I never had to put this much thought into an exhaust setup. So here's what i'm lost on.

Mids or LTs?
TDs or just get an ORY fab'd?
I want to build this car to be 400~425whp range.

I go LTs w/ TDs right? Would I be spending too much for this goal? I just dont wanna waste money, I already spend too much as it is.

At the same time, it seems that I would be fine with LTs and a ORY. Would this be the cheaper route that will help me get to the same goal?

Then I also thought about doing MAC mids and a TD setup. THis way i'll have the ground clearance, although the eibach pro kit doesn't lower that much. (I've decided to go with that setup)

From what I have read on this site you should go with LT's and a true dual set up. You could go with a y-pipe but from what i have heard TD's sound much better. If your lowered on a prokit then the TD's might be an issue for you. See what others chime in, but i would do LT's and somekind of dual set up ie dumps over the axle or even under the axle. I know that I am doing LT's and dumped duals after the new year!

For sound and a little more power go LTs and true duals, if you plan on lowering the car and want clearance go with LTs, ypipe and a catback. A good y setup doesnt flow that much worse than a true dual setup. A big reason people go with true duals is they sound better and if dumped can be had cheaper.

i've heard that a good y-pipe set-up can support up to 500 h.p. it's just that true duals sound better IMO. but there are some y-pipes that sound great too. personally, i went with dumped true duals with an H-pipe, but im getting them re-run over the axle and out the back because i plan on getting a cam and dont want them dumped after that. and go with long tube headers.

I ran true duals on a LT1 camaro for years and my CTSV has true duals. So I'm well aware of how they sound and its not necessarily that duals sound better, just different. They may make a little more power if done right. If done wrong though, they could hurt you. It's really just personal preference as to which you need.

The LTs are a better header, with much more potential that mids. But if you can guarantee that 400-425 is all you will ever want then you could do it with any of the setups that you mentioned. The rest of the combination (cam, heads, intake) just has to work very well.

On a side note, you could just keep your stock stuff and just spray it to 425rwhp. Just a thought.
