What else do I need to start installing my headers
Im trying to throw a checklist together so I know what I need to have before I start putting on my headers. I've got the LT SLP headers, I'm pretty sure I need a y-pipe. Do I have to get a y-pipe with cats or can I use my old ones? I need O2 sensor extensions. Should I buy the SLP headers isntallation kit? I think thats about it, anything I'm missing?

go ahead and get the kit that way you are covering majority of the small things...i would get a y pipe without cats but i dont' have to worry about being loud.....i hope you have someone that can help you pass emissions because i don't think it is going to happen with lt in cali

If you still have stock motor mounts, this may be something you want to take a serious look at. Doing the mounts while the manifolds/headers are out is a very easy job, its relatively cheap, probably adds 30 minutes to your header install. If you wait until later and try to replace them with the headers in place, you will be hating life. A lot of people with stock mounts and long tubes have issues with them banging against the k-member when the motor torques.
As far as what you will need for the header install, just gaskets, y-pipe, O2 extensions, and if you don't already have on a 10mm gear wrench. You might want to have a new set of spark plugs handy in case you break one during the install.
Other than that, good luck with your install, hope all goes well for you.

You don't NEED to change them, but I would highly recommend it. Don't want to get done with that header install and hear them banging on the k-member every time the motor torques. I put solid motor mounts in my car, a lot of people use poly. Either way, it's all personal preference. Just saying that swapping them while you already have the exhaust manifolds/headers out is a WHOLE LOT easier than doing them later with the exhaust in place.
