The M6 cars and A4 3.23 cars were supposed to come with the alum driveshaft, mine is steel and originally 2.73.

Yes all LS1 had aluminum driveshafts 1998-2002 The LT1 1LE car came with aluminum driveshafts and if your car LT1 (1993-1997)was under warranty and you had a vibration at speed they would put one in it if the mechanic was worth a crap and kept up with bullitins. LOL

With your car being an auto you won't have to worry about it much unless you get crazy with the car. I was cutting 1.5xs 60 fts with 3.42s and a aluminum DS and never had a problem. But search around in the Gears & Axles forum, there is some info in there about your question

Not so, many (like mine) came with a steel driveshaft.

The factory aluminum one has been known to break. If mine had one I would upgrade it to a better aluminum one or a factory steel one.
