Default Favorite Headers

Alright guys, Ive been searching, reading, and asking around, but im still not sure. I finally got some money for headers and cant make up my mind on which ones. My car has SLP LMII exhaust and I will put a catted y pipe on whatever headers I choose. Besides that I have other mild bolt ons and dont want to ruin the sound with a bad combo of headers/Y/exhaust. So please help me out! Ive heard good things about ARH and Kooks, but was leaning towards Pacesetters before I started searching. Now i dont know. I dont plan on much more than a cam and LS6 intake and everything that goes with that future mod wise so help me out. Advice/comments/suggestions!

Ive had both Kooks & Pacesetters. I liked how Kooks are stainless better than the ceramic coating of the pacesetters. If you got the cash and are looking for all out power, go Kooks over pacesetters. However I do think pacesetters are a good header for the buck.

Your not paying for a sound difference, they're all gonna sound the same, your paying for quality and material used for their construction. Some of the headers will make more power though, like stepped headers or ones that utilize a HVMC.

I run coated Pacesetters with my heads/cam setup with good results. They're not my favorite headers, but they're my favorite headesr for the money. If money was no option, I would most likely get ARH, so I guess they would be my favorite, with QTPs and Kooks coming in next.

I am running a set of Kooks on my C5 and they were not bad to install. The quality was o.k. I had them coated as well. I saw a set of the QTP's at the PRI show and was very impressed with their quality. Nice solid welds with outstanding finish work. A quality piece for sure. I would look at them next time.

Every "which header" poll always end up with Kooks winning. If you want the "best header" you're gonna have to pay for it.

JM1841, I have the LMII with ARH headers and catted-y, it sounds GREAT, its not too loud, but you know its there for sure when you step on it it has a great tone to it!! I cant wait to hear them with the torquer2 im going to put in here soon. Any questions let me know. Oh and I went straight through ARH when I ordered to get a the merge thats FULL 3in instead of stepping down for a slip fit on the cat back, all I did was have the intermediate pipe on the LM expanded by a local shop.

I've had no issues thus far with my ol' JetHots. Coating still looks good after a few years...and I drive the car daily.

PACESETTERS ALL THE WAY!! the best bang for the buck. those headers really woke my car up big time. and the pacesetters are alot better than the hooker headers i had in the past. go with pacesetters, and save yourself the money for other mods. i know alot of people will tell you KOOK, QTP and all stainless and all, but ive seen some used stainless headers in the for sale section and they look like $hit too!! go pacesetters!!

Kooks do have a nice cat'd Y. It sits up very tight, great clearance.

But I ended up with Dynatech stainless, got them from New Era:

They look and fit great. And the kit comes with everything - nice band clamps, O2 extensions, all gaskets, color instructions. I was very impressed.
