Default 10" bullets or Spiral flows?

I'm looking to quiet the car down a little bit and i currently have the 10" bullets on my TD setup. will the Spiral flows make much of a difference? any tone change? if so is it better?

Spiral flows will quiet it down A LOT in comparison to the bullets. Plus, IMO, they sound A LOT better. You'll get better sound and more tolerable volume, all at the expense of near zero horsepower. It's a much better option IMO.

That sounds a lot better than my bullets, it's just obnoxious loud and they aren't even dumped!

I just replaced my bullets with the spiral flows about a month ago. It isn't really that much quieter but it does have a better sound to it so I am glad I did the swap.

I have spiral flows right now and I'm trying to figure out how to quiet down my car. I'm wondering if the 17" twisters will do anything noticable.

I see people say that the spiral flow doesn't give up any hp to the bullet, but does anyone actually have dyno proof? The only reason I ask is because I currently have the spiralflows on my trudual setup. My car sounds great, but its still pretty f'in loud. It could be because I am running 413 cid with 1 7/8'' headers to a custom 3'' true dual exhaust with a 3'' x pipe. I actully think I might have the only f-body LSx car with true duals w/ x pipe with a chassis mounted torque arm. It took a bit of customization and fabrication. I have been considering putting bullets in place of my spiral flows if it will make more power.

Dude Ive got Flowmaster 1-chambers on my true duals and it is the best sounding set-up I have ever heard IMO. Ive heard bullets and spiral flows and they sound raspy to me...the 1-chambers are DEEP and have an amazing tone to them....and driving conservatively i have no problem driving next to cops, but once you slam the throttle down it sounds like deep growls from the darkest pits of hell!

Do you have a cam? I didn't think the noise would've changed that much after the cam, but it definitely did. My spirals were very deep and subdued at anything but WOT, but now with the cam, it's louder everywhere. Being quiet is a thing of the past. Oh well.

I just changed my spiralflows for some borla 4x9's and I took the piping under the axle to try and get rid of some drone. I REAAAALLY miss the sound and the ***** of the sf's, but my set up now still sounds damn good and it's more practical on the streets and firing up in my neighborhood.

It still is loud at 70mph though. Not nearly as loud, but still loud. If anything, I picked up hp due to magnaflows straight through design.

If you're not trying to go to quite, I would go with some spiral flows, but I would install high flow cats. I'm still considering it on mine.

FWIW, and maybe it's because I've never had cats on any of my cars and my nose is shot...

...but in any case, cats would cut down on the smell if there was one. I didn't have a smell so I can't really comment accurately. If I were you, and this is what I did, just put 'em on with no cats, and you can add 'em later easily. That way without cats you will know how loud it can be, so when you put cats on you only know it will get tamer.

lastcall was the reason i went with the spiral flows, i heard them on alot of other cars but his was the first time i heard them on a ls1. i've had mine with my ms4 the 226 and now with the current setup. they just have that natural old school hot rod sound and are easy to fit under the car compaired to a full size muffler

bullets make my ears bleed at 75. i wore ear plugs on my last trip to austin. plus with the stall keeping the rpms higher the drone is now even worse.

hopefully the SF's will quiet it down.

and how to you add cats "easily" erm.. i dont have a welder.

If you are considering spiral flows you might want to take a look at the 17" twisters. They said they quieted down their cars 5db over their 12" version, so I'm probably going to swap out my 12" sprialflows for the 17" twisters.
