Slp Exhaust
i just got back from the muffler place and they want 230 to install my slp lm1 and tips and i said that i dont want new piping but they said i would bc they have to relocate where the resonator goes. they said that it went under the pass. seat instead of in the back so that meant that i have to get almost all new piping. i was wondering if their is another way to do this install to where i will not need all new pipes

Here's the LM install instructions from SLP:

You should do it yourself brother, it's not difficult. I don't know what they are talking about relocating.

i dont see how u could just swap the LM resonator in place of the stock muffler unless you just had a single pipe comming out on the drivers side because the LM1 resonator is a single 3" in/out and the stock muffler has 2 outlets.

What everyone here is getting at is it is impossible to just put the SLP resonator in place of your old muffler. If you only bought the resonator you will notice it is a single in single out. You need to have the exhaust shop fab you the rest of the kit that you didn't buy in order to have two pipes out back.

It's a little difficult on jackstands just because you may not have the clearance you'll need to move some of the pipes around, install and remove them, etc. If you can get use of a lift it's pretty easy -- just remove the old stuff and install the SLP parts. I've done exhausts on jackstands myself so it's not impossible, but it's frustrating sometimes.

Put the back on ramps, sawzall the old one in 1 or 2 places, pull out pieces, clamp in new exhaust. If it wasn't for some stuck bolts, and using a hack saw instead of a sawzall (didn't have one available to me at the time) it woulda taken about 20-30min. Its not hard, give yourself the satisfaction of doing it yourself.

with the SLP LM exhaust u should just be replacing the I-Pipe back... so the I-Pipe is just bolted up to the Y-Pipe... the sawing is back near the part of the exhaust that goes over the axle and just makes it so u don't need the car up as high to jimmy the whole exhaust out and IMO makes things faster and easier. It can be done without any cutting, u just need the car up a lot higher. Jack stands or Ramps, doesn't matter really except the stands will give u more room to work with. I didn't have any at the time so i just used some ramps and 2x4 to not scrape.

Well the thing is you can get hurt, I've been working on crap for years and when it comes to exhaust the best way to do it is with a lift it make life so much easier man and if thier is welding .... if you had a bud that was a mechanic and had all the tools and would help you out I'd say go for it.
don't be bull headed thats how people get hurt/die get some help or have a shop do it.

Please clarify...
Are you:
1) installing the entire LM catback system (ie, u have the resonator, the intermediate pipe, 2 tips and the piping to go over the axle)
OR
2) attempting to switch the stock muffler for a LM resonator
There is a HUGE difference. Let us know
