Air Pump Check Valve Help
ok so my ses came one and its code p1416 which from what i've found is most likely a clogged up check falve on the passenger side...is that easy to replce on my own? what all is involved? i just got the car not too long ago so im not vary familiar with the engine as its snowy and shitty here so any help would be greatly appreciate! also would it be easier if i just take it to my mechanic to fix? thanks a lot!

You can do it yourself. Just unclamp the hose side and pull it off, then use 2 wrenches (one to hold the pipe and one to unscrew it from the metal pipe coming off the header). If it's really on there tight remove the 2 bolts on the pipe and do it off the car.

once i replace it will the codes have to be cleared or will it see that its functioning normally and clear the codes on its own? and where exactly is the check valve...unfortunately i am pretty ignorant when it comes to this stuff so far since im new to camaros...i dont know what it looks like lol if any one has an engine pic and can point it out it would be great thanks!

It's OK to drive with it. P1416 will shut off after a few cold starts without a failure - you can look it up at gearchatter.com for your year and it'll tell you when. The valve is the black disc shaped valve between the metal pipe coming off the header and then connects to the hose - right near the cyl #4 coil pack - can't miss it.

Could be something else, like a collapsed or loose air hose going to the passenger side for instance, but usually the valve is inop/clogged with carbon deposits. It's about $20? at NAPA and only takes a couple minutes to change and would try that first.
