Default Best way to gut cats

Like the title says. Just scrape them out with a crowbar? Cut open and weld them back together?

if for sound is one thing, but i know you bought your ls1 for speed and gutting the cats actually affects performance a bit...

take it to a muffler shop, say its going to be a drag car and tell them to replace the cats with straight pipe, sell the stock cats for 150$ to a guy on that buys used/new....

both of two worlds!

gutting the cats messes up the flow direction...bounces around instead of flowing straight though.

yea id have a buddy put straight pipe through the middle.

either put in straight pipes or leave them on. It's not really worth the trouble gutting them. They dont rob that much hp unless you're making alot

Buy an ORY first. Then take and cut the cats off the old pipe, take just the shell off and weld it around the ORY. That way it is really flowing through an ORY but appears there are funtioning cats. That's what I did on my other car and it worked like a charm!
