Question Blackwing not latching tight...

I'm swapping the stock intake on my '01 SS for a Blackwing lid but it won't latch tightly. I have a K&N filter sitting in the stock tray. Do I need shorter latches or a spacer? Thanks for any help...

Mine is tight w/ paper filter & stock tray. Maybe the
K&N seal has crushed down with time? Does a paper
filter fit tighter? If so maybe some foam weatherstrip
(presuming you want to keep the K&N) on the tray lip
might take up the slack. Put it where it can't get
sucked up, if it gets loose.

I don't think the K&N filter is crushed, it's pretty new. I was about to get some weather striping because even if there was a part I'm missing it would probably cost the same or more as the weather striping and do the same thing...

Happens a lot,you need to push the lid all the way back into the bellow with the clamp loose and rear tabs on lid seated all the way into the bottom tray slots.Clamp the latches then tighten clamps on bellow. You need to get the lid as far back on the air filter tray as possible, had same problem for a week.
