Instead of plugging the rear steam vents I kept them functional by afro engineering my old LS1 coolant lines with a tee and some fuel line. Now I get great flow from the rear steam vents. I wa surprising how much air was trapped in the back of the heads. I have always suspected hot spots in the back of the heads might contribute to # 7 frequently getting nuked.

Thats the best way to do it. It's not pretty, but it's effective.

Actually it looks pretty good. I have a tee in the back between the steam vents and then have a 5/16 ID fuel line running between the intake and the valve cover forward and it is covered by the PVC line. Up front I have another tee that connects with the front steam line that goes to the radiator.
