Can I drive my C5 with open headers for about 15 miles?
I'm going to put my TPiS longtubes on my Z06 tomorrow night, but I'm about 15 miles from the place where I'll need to have my X-pipe modded to fit the headers. Will I be ok driving it that far without hurting anything?

You will be fine. If you have o2s, just disconnect them for the time being if you do not have a 12-16" extention on there. I think you might be OK with the TPIS? but I do not remember where the 02 is located on those headers.
It wont hurt anything, but if the o2 is close to atmosphere, it will sense its lean, and add a lot of fuel. Not that it matters for the short drive, but its just a data point for you

You should be fine. I drove my car w/ open headers for two weeks back and forth to work.(about 40 miles a day) I did have one close call with a State Trooper. He must have heard me from a mile away. I had my car parked and I was opening the door of the office just as he came into the parking lot.

i drove w/ open headers tonight.. it was pretty loud lol
i did notice that it did suck a LOT of fuel.. and my SES light was flashing almost the whole time, but i'm sure that's due to the 02's seeing alot of oxygen. meh, exhaust will be put on tomorrow, no biggie.

Someone explain the burnt valves? Is it from sucking in the same air that the intake valves suck in? Therefore everyones intake valves should all be burnt up already. Hmm maybe I should get some intake valves for my exhaust.

no, no you won't. The only way you are going to do that is with no headers/manifolds at all.
People and the ridiculous bullshit/misinformation they spout off here as fact...
p.s. Show me one person who has EVER burnt valves on an LS1 while running open headers. And not a story your brothers friends nephew told you.

The only issue you might have is the fumes. Make sure nothing that will burn is directly behind the header openings. Ive done this ever time I put headers on my cars, no problems. Just ungodly loud and obnoxious.
