when I last posted I was concerned about floating a valve, Now I'm worried about burning a valve I have side exit no muffs no cats. Is it possible?

 

Usually that will happen if you have a BAD exhaust leak. Excess carbon build-up will also cause burnt valves along with detonation from poor fuel quality.

In my opinion, you won't have a problem even if you run open headers. Since you have extensions on there, I wouldn't worry about it at all.

 

That's on old myth. How many racecars run open headers and never burn a valve? I wouldn't run open manifolds, but open headers w/ an extension is safe.

 

I've never hert a valve by running open headers. The only way I know you could hert the valves is maybe by open shorties or manifold. The valves get warped if cold air comes back in the head when you have no back pressure but with open headers cold air can not go past the collector. You should have no problem.

 

You will be fine running long tubes open header but I wouldn't do it with stock manifolds. I run my nova open header all the time with no problems at the track.
