Thanks for the info. I have never seen that before. Can't argue with proven numbers though.

The $540 Edelbrocks were the ti-tech coated ones. I am going by JEGS website so maybe they are cheaper elsewhere. I was looking into the Edelbrocks before I got my Pacesetters but didn't want to spend the extra $150 for headers that weren't ceramic coated and I was under the impression that all LT's were pretty close power wise. Either way, I am very happy with my Pacesetters.

All longtubes do not dyno close to the same. That's a myth.

Here's a graph of QTP's vs. Pacesetters. It's just a longtube swap, nothing else:

https://ls1tech.com/forums/dynamometer-results-comparisons/700678-results-qtp-hvmc-vs-pacesetters.html

That's a 9rwhp/7rwtq gain peak, and an ~18rwhp/31rwtq gain at ~3100rpms. That's just from a longtube swap. Edelbrocks should do the same vs. the Pacesetters because the Edelbrocks also have HVMC's, have longer primaries and keep the firing order of the engine in mind.
I would associate MOST of the gain of that setup because of the Y pipe change. I am sure the headers themselves would gain some due to the HVMC, but I doubt that a whole lot of was the actual headers. The ORY's offered by Pacesetter and TSP(for the pacesetters) are a **** poor design with shitty merges. Larger diameter tubes and good merges on a Y pipe do the same thing as a proper X pipe, it will help HP/TQ production especially in the midrange. HVMC also contibute to scavenging as well, however I have seen back to back dyno comparisons on a few HP street cars that have only shown a few HP with the HVMC over a standard collector. Choco I also think you may be confused on headers making more power because they have longer primaries. The main function of primary pipes is to set the initial rpm point (engine speed) at which a torque boost is created, as contributed by the headers. longer tubes tend to increase power below peak torque while hurting power above peak torque. Shorter tubes tend to affect the engine in exactly the opposite way, hurting midrange torque in favor of increasing top-end power.

If you are going to keep your car for a while, get some nice stainless steel ones. If you are only planning on keeping your car for a year or two, get the cheaper pacesetters. They will eventually rust, but if that does not bother you, get them. They do fit up good, and tuck in nicely. The merge at the y-pipe does make a big difference as stated above.

[QUOTE=ChocoTaco369;8717009]That's true, I also believe the Edelbrocks are a much better deal than Pacesetters.

What are you talking about? My Edelbrocks don't hang lower then any other headers so don't go spreading false info. My headers and Y pipe have yet to scrape and im lowered 1.5". Edelbrock Y pipe on the DS is slightly lower then the others and that is because its not crushed for clearance. At stock height at the lowest point of my Y headers/y pipe i could fit a beer can with 3/4" of clearance in between.

I would prefer stainless if I have the money at the time. If I were to buy stailess I would go for the kooks. I am going to keep my car for a very long time but I may build an engine later which would require bigger headers...Very good info from everyone I really appreciate it Thank You all.

Now back to the original topic... I run Pacesetter and haven't had any problems yet. They sound good and have great clearance.

You also may want to consider throwing a cut-out into the mix to get the best flow out of everything and sound mean as hell, but also to be able to cap it and go on a nice, quiet drive.. I've got an electric RaceReady out before the muffler and I love the thing..
No cut out for me, im lowered and would hate for that $250 electric cutout to smack a speedbump...anyway I am going to have a true dual system built so it will be plenty loud.
