Default What exhaust set-up if I were to switch..

I am getting Absolute Speed stage 2 5.3's w/ 230/236 cam soon... they have already been ordered. Other things going to be installed are Yella Terra 1.7 rockers, Rollmaster Double roller, ARP rod bolts, and Texas Speed modified LS6 oil pump. My question is... if I were to change from the headers back.... what exhaust would you guys do for maximum performance.... and something that will match the "***** to the Wall" sound I already get... and will have now.

What headers (if any) and x pipe, y pipe, and catback?

Keep in mind I have Eibach Sportlines, so clearance is any issue.

Let me know... even if I should leave it alone.

Thanks

Hooker header's w/ ORY pipe and borla cat back. But thats just what I like, it sounds the best to me. Look around for sound clips and decide then. Everyone will tell you what they like.
Good luck searching,
Warren

I would stay away from Hooker LTs since your lowered. They don't offer much ground clearance to speak of, though better than others. I have the Hooker catback and it sounds bad ***, inexpensive, and flows with the best of them. GMMG inc. is nasty too, but too much $$$ IMO. I just ordered a set of KOOKs stainless headers + their catted Y pipe. This should allow for plenty of ground clearance, I'll be lowering my car on either Hotchkiss or DMS Springs. I would say shoot for QTP/KOOKS Headers they both pretty much can't be beat, their the top names out there right now. Good Luck,
Rob

I think the Hookers are pretty good. Best clearence LTs I've seen so far. But, if your looking to upgrade, maybe the Thunder Racing "race style" headers, or the QTPs. You might wanna check out Kooks. Deffinately an x-pipe to move that exhaust. What mufflers to use? That is entirely up to you. I had Dynomax Bullet mufflers on my set-up at first, but it felt like I lost a lot of lowend torque. And the drone in 6th gear... I ended up switching to Moroso Spiral Flow mufflers. Still a "bullet" design, but gave me back a little bit of that lowend torque.

Hookers Lts are not that bad on ground clearance. I have them on my car which is lowered with G2 springs. I haven't banged them, scraped them or heard a peep from them since I had them installed 4 months ago. And that's going over some big *** speed bumps too. Of course your qoing to here the usual "get true duals". I wouldn't disagree, Duals with an X-pipe sound and flow the best. I have them and my ears are hating me for them. But that's just me. I wouldn't get Duals unless you plan on going over the axle. After all the research I've done, I would recommend a Mufflex Y-pipe, which flows better and gives you a little more HP that the hooker ORP, and Hooker cat-back with a cut-out to go with your hooker headers. Along with your cam, this setup should sound sweet.

I already have Hooker headers.... and they clear absolutely great with the sportlines.

I doubt any catback... i.e. Hooker, Borla, or any other can flow as good as Loudmouth... which is what I have.

The louder the car the better.

I am looking for something that will maximize power with heads and cam... a big cam. Is there anything better than what I have?

What about 1 7/8" headers... will they work. And what about a y pipe? Anything better than the hooker? And will dual cut-outs make more power? Is there a different collector that I can install?

These are the questions that I have. Thanks for all of the feedback so far guys.

Keep it coming!!

I think your hooker headers are fine as long as you stay with stock displacement.

With your current exhaust setup, I'm guessing you don't car about loudness. Like I said before, you can go the true dual route (which I think is the best flowing and sounding exhaust set-up out there) or stay with your current set-up which already flows pretty good.

I would recommend just changing your hooker ORP to the mufflex ORP. They use a flowmaster collector on theirs, flows better, and is good quality.

As for cut-outs, I don't think you will get that much more power over what you have now.

If loud is what you want, then w/ true duals, loud is what you'll get.

Not sure you'll benefit much, if at all, with 1 7/8" headers on the stock displacement. If you decide to go with a y-pipe, I agree with Graphite, get the Mufflex or have one custom made. But, I don't think the benefit will be substantially over the Hooker Y.

1 7/8 will prob give no gains on 346cubes over 1 3/4. An X will outflow a Y, but since you have sportlines...clearence may be a big factor. Switching to a new Y wont get you anywhere.
