Default Not as satisfied with Hooker Muffler as I thought...

Well, I bought a Hooker Aerochamber Muffler after lots of reviews, but it's not as loud as I wanted. Is there something in between that and let’s says something like LM? I'm looking for something that has a nice muscle/throaty sound, but it not crazy loud. What about just the Flowmaster 80 series muffler? Before everyone goes crazy let me say this - I'm NOT going to be racing, nor am I planning on tons of mods, so I don't care if I loose a little hp by switching. All I want is sound!! Again, please don't jump all over me about the hp loss because I've read a lot and I'm aware of it...I'm just going for sound alone. Is the Flowmaster my next best option? Thank so much everyone!

Yea, the Hooker is pretty tame, but I can gaurentee you that it'll sound 100x better with LT's & ORY added to it. Thats what I run & honestly I wouldn't want anything louder with the amount of seat time I put in.

You need headers. Headers and no cats make all the difference in the world with the muffler. Dont believe me, ask around....

I don't really have the money right now for headers. I'm probably going to keep the Hooker Muffler for later if I do upgrade. I just want to know what is the cheapest option right now.

I loved the Hooker when I swapped headers at the same time. When I put a 232/234 cam in, I loved it even more. I'd keep it, because when you're ready to upgrade it will only get better.

It will be quiet as a catback only. Don't get the flowmaster muffler. I had the american thunder catback on my car when I first got it along with an SLP y pipe. There was no gain in power, the flowmaster popped and rasped when I let off the throttle, and it was just slightly louder than stock. 8 months later, I went with jet hot longtubes, true duals with 1 chambers. Very nice....

You must have got a hooker that didn't want to cooperate lol. Seriously when you add lt's and other mods it will wake up like a 600 pound women who got her cookie stolen.

Agreed. I wouldn't waste the money buying another catback. thats kinda retarded unless your just not wanting to keep the Hooker at all. By the time you spend the money for another catback, you could have just added another $100 or so & got a Pacesetter LT/TSP ORY package from TSP & had full exhaust.

yup, you need headers, also, a cam will probably give you what you want. It's the valve duration that gives you that "lob" of a muscle car i think you're looking for as well as headers and a nice muffle.

You also live were they check emmission equipment, taking off the cats do get more sound but unless you know someone to get you a state insp sticker go ahead and get the ORY, but adding headers alone will wake her up.

other options are the same setup/style as the LM are a bullet style muffler in place of the resonator and with stock manifolds/cats it can be a good sound and not to loud in the car. so mabey look into a setup that many here have had and selling you setup to recoop any loss.

How much louder is the 80 series Flowmaster than Hooker? Does it have a deeper tone?

switch the catback to a flowmaster and have it welded on and let the hooker sit there. By the time you do this you could of almost bought headers considering you just bought a hooker and now its gonna sit around(waste of money). IMO I would keep the hooker for another month or two and be very happy when you buy the headers/ory instead of going with flowmaster and having to sell the hooker. Does that make any sense? Sorry...
