Default Thinking about duals on he the cheap

I am thinking about selling my borla and going with 2-3ft of 3" straight pipe off the collectors into bullets with turndowns. I know it will be loud as hell and flow like no other but how much would not habing a crossover pipe affect my hp/tq? Im mainly doing this so the extra $$$ from the borla can go into my cam fund and even open the borla is too quiet

Yes, it will be loud as hell. Even without an x pipe it would still make more power than the borla most likely.

Can you say Rasp!? It's going to be very loud, which I happen to like mysef. I think you could find an X pipe pretty cheap and do it the right way. From what I've heard, you can't really beat LT's into and X-pipe with dual bullets dumped. I'm getting rid of my powersticks for that setup. I think the power/tq loss from not having a crossover would be in the higher single digits. Everything counts though.

It would actually be really easy to just run 1 crossover pipe for an H-pipe setup.

I run flowmaster 1 chambers and 16" of extension pipe clamped to the collectors on my car.. there is no Rasp.. that only comes into play with Y pipes. I say go for it.. the small gain from putting on an X pipe and dumping it at the axle would be negated by the added weight anyhow.

All I have is older pics when I first rigged it up... Since these pics I did a little hammering on the brace under the car to replace the flatened piece of pipe with a regular one on the drivers side. I put an extension on the pass side one so they are both the same now. I rigged the hanger up on the driver side because it was just vibrating enough to hit under the car. I ended up doing the same on the pass side later on as well just to be sure the exhaust would vibrate loose and slide off. Here are the old pics...

Drivers side..

Pass side..

Its crazy loud but I love it. Some of the really hardcore drag guys buy super light weight bullet mufflers and run this setup.

It's about time to bolt a setup onto my car, and I'm thinking about doing some po' boy duals too. I have an old 5.0 H-pipe laying around I might hack up to save on tubing cost.

Matter of fact, I'm going to get my car up on stands today and see if it's even feasible. I don't see how two side-by-side straights should cost much to get fabbed up.

I have the exact same setup like your describing except mine is dumped at the axle. I'm running Magnaflow 3" bullets #14419 and there's no rasp at all and sounds tough as hell. My exhaust shop did the tubing for $120 and the bullets cost me about $80 a piece which is $280 all together and I'm very pleased with it. It is somewhat loud 1-4 in my m6, but 5-6 you can't hardly hear it unless you mash on the pedal again. I'll go out and snap some shots if you want. I don't have a way to do a video clip and I know that would help alot.

I went through the whole duals sticky, and I've come to one conclusion..

An H-pipe is going to be a bitch when I need a driveshaft loop.

Damn man that sounds mean. What mufflers are on there? And you need a set of poly motor mounts in a bad sort of way.

I'm pretty sure the cross over only helps with your low and mid range. Nothing is more free flowing than open headers.

Sounds great man, but wow, that motor was all sorts of jumping around. You need to switch to either a poly or solid mount.
