Question FAST Intake (90/90) install question (exp. installers inside)

I am helping a buddy install this intake on a 02 Camaro.

We got everything transfered over from his LS6 intake, and got the new valley bolts in and also the new intake seals.

In the instruction booklet that came with it, on step 3 it had stated to removed the plastic/metal clips for the Knock sensor harness.

The reason why I am asking, We got the intake over the bolt holes but the intake wont sit down on the motor. its up like 1/4 or of an inch and I have a sinking feeling it is that.

Any help is appreciated and any other pointers is welcome.

That or the bolts heads are too tall! I also had to bend my water transfer tubes down some.

The bolt heads were provided from FAST, its a cap style bolt w/ a Allan Wrench(hex) style fitting).

I am going to check on the xfer tubes, there is nothing going across but I beleive on either side it couldnt hurt to bend them down.

Also removing the clips.

Btw the LSx motor intakes a PITA compared to LT1 stuff lol.

are you sure you used the FAST bolts and not the stockers.

They provide bolts as the stockers won't work correctly, if you went by the directions you probably already know this.

i just finished a fast 90 install, i bet the ls6 coolant line in the front is preventing the intake from dropping. U have to bend the front coolant line to clear the throttle inlet since it's bigger

Yea, now that I think back, I thought something was catching in the front. We had to quit due to running out of time, the next thing I will certainly do is bend that line.

There is the install sheet. I'd say either the bolts or what vidal77boxing said. You sure that you guys used the FAST button head bolts on it?

Peace,
Craig.

oh yea i took some good ol duck tape an taped my sensors down just to make sure they would stay out of the way... the intake has hardly no room for anything between it and the valley cover

Your TB seal should be in a little bag folded up......took me awhile to find it

Make sure you seal up the MAP sensor to the intake really well, they tend to leak. I ended up having to tap the hole and screw a hose fitting in it, then connect my my MAP to that with some 1/4" hose

My bet is on the coolant line under the front of the intake. You just have to bend it down slightly; bends easily.

Good discussions and tips; mine is sitting here ready to be installed but it's too cold out. A few weeks hopefully. I like the duct tape idea on the lines for the knock sensors.

** Update **

I got to my bud's house today, we removed the intake, there were no clips to worry about.

So I took a hammer (plastic mallet) I tapped the crossover tube down, the intake sat right in, flush.

Perfect!

Now its time to get the MAP taped down and get her all connected.

One last question.

The injector O-rings have 35k on them, do they actually need to be replaced!?

I would not bother at 35k. I've had mine in and out numerous times between stock and the LS6.

deadblow hammer on the lines is what I did for mine. It wouldn't sit till I did that.
