Need some exhaust info!!
Currently I have a Borla cat-back and i wanna tone it down a bit due to my up coming cam install. I really like the tips of the Borla and the option of having a spot for a cut-out. My question is..would it be possible to just cut out the Borla muffler and install a Hooker aero chamber in there? From what it looks like it would have to be a 3" center in/3" center out. Does anyone think this is possible or just a dumb idea on my part?? Any info would be great!!

Dude, the hooker aero chamber isnt as quiet as you think. I've got one on my car and its gotten pretty loud over the year that its been installed. Granted, mine doesnt exit the car anymore, I have it just exiting out the sides without any tips... but with the pipes on its still loud. Not nearly as loud as true duals, but loud none the less.
Instead of hacking a very expensive borla setup up to put in a hooker, I recommend one of two things:
1. Keep the borla and install an XR1 in the I pipe
2. SELL the borla because it would probably pay for the hooker setup. If that was still too loud then you could put a small bullet in the I pipe.

i cant count the number of videos I've listened to trying to get an idea of a set-up I like! One hooker cat back with LT's and or/y sounds great..the next one sounds horrible!! I hear a Dual-Dual on one car sounds nice and quiet and another one roars!! Just gonna have to try somethin' out and see how it go's I guess! Thanks for the replies guys, keep your opinions comin'

Honestly man my dream exhaust has always been Mufflex. Its got a very deep sound to it. If you are searching for something that sounds good then I know you wont be disappointed. Plus, 4" piping flows only 11% less than two 3" pipes. sell the borla and go for a mufflex 4" Y and 4" catback!!!!!
You simply wont find anyone that says that it sounds bad. I have looked it over for years.

Don't put the Hooker in the place of the Borla. Get yourself a nice round stainless bullet style muffler (Magnaflow for cheap, Borla is expensive) and weld it into the I pipe. That'll tame it down for sure, and that'll keep the exhaust stainless.

If full open then I think you should try a QTEC inside your Borla, that would be badass!
If you meant full closed and you still don't like it (I don't know why, sounds good to me) then KurtRardin has a good idea with putting an XR1 in the i-pipe, and/or you can get a Pacesetter y-pipe with cats. Those ideas will cost you less than a cat-back. But I do love the sound of my XR1, deep pitch and not too much rasp.
Peace,
Craig.
