Default easy questions regarding LT's/ORY

Ok, I am selling my true duals and have a couple questions about some stuffs.

I may not be able to sell my headers with the duals, and if that's the case, I'd like to keep them with my stock catback. I don't want to spend the money to get a y-pipe with cats, because it will defeat the purpose of making some money off my duals.

so.. if I keep the headers on and get a catless y-pipe and use the stock exhaust.. what will it sound like? I want a completely quiet stock sound, but I know not having cats will have an effect. How much of an effect, though?

Also - would putting a bullet muffler in the i-pipe help make it get quiet?

I'm gettin worried my only option for stock sound without paying an arm and a leg is going completely stock to the manifolds.

Appriciatin' any comments, suggestions, etc!

- mike

p.s. Yes, I am getting rid of the cam, too so don't reply with "well, that cam is gonna make it louder than stock anyways.."

Probably not a whole lot of guys with that set up to tell you from experience, but I would speculate that it would be pretty quiet because of the stock muffler.

Stock LS1s are really quiet... It will definitely be louder than stock, but probably not overly so even without cats and the addition of headers b/c the stock exhaust is first and foremost a true muffler - it really kills the volume.

A buddy of mine had Hooker LTs, Y-pipe, and stock exhaust, and it was pretty damn quiet. Putting a bullet in the I-pipe will help some.

Thanks for the replies, guys.

MOBE: Was it very raspy, for the little volume it had?

I didn't think so, but I suppose that is all in the eye, or in this case ear, of the beholder.

I have Macs, ORY and the SLP dual dual and it is really quiet and no noticable rasp.

Cool, cool! Thanks guys.

So if I do the setup I talked about with a twister in the I-pipe, people would hear it and basically be like "wtf? gay stock z28.."

That's what I'm goin for.

I have Jet Hot LT's, Hooker ORY, and an SLP dual/dual catback and I love the way it sounds. Not too raspy and definitely not too loud. It's pretty quiet actually.

But when I want it loud I have a cutout in the I-pipe that I can open up.

Great to hear, thanks dude.

Judging from the feedback here, I am pretty postiive I will go with the Hooker LT's, ORY, Twister, and stock exhaust. Hopefully it'll be as close to stock sounding with headers and no cats as I can get

And if I ever have the urge for noise again, I still have a cutout on my old stock stuff. Not that i think I will - had my fun with the noisy lump sound

Thanks alot guys, you've been a huge help!
